Alan Fonteles and Suzete Montalban ( Project Papo Cabeça) |
He was only eight years old when he sought, in Project "Papo Cabeça" for beginners in Belém-PA, the coach Suzete Montalban.
Suzete got surprised when he said that he intended to become a runner.
Suzette recalls that she was moved to see the boy perched on two rustic homemade common wood prostheses that she agreed to help him.
Fonteles has improved gradually, as a runner and as a person.
Hence, in 2006, in Belém, he met Rivaldo Martins, a competitor of the Ironman also extraordinary.
Rivaldo became fascinated with the commitment of Fonteles, and in 2007, he landed a sponsorship Challenge Athletes Foundation, an organization that brings together disabled athletes from various modalities, so that the boy from Maraba traveled to São Paulo and obtained two prostheses ultra-modern fittings with anatomical, tailored, and metal blades.
In short, Fonteles is an example of overcoming.
